SkirtsAfire was founded by a volunteer board of artists and art enthusiasts in 2013, SkirtsAfire HerArts Festival is one of the newest multidisciplinary festivals in Edmonton. Unique in its mission to support the development and feature the work of women, SkirtsAfire provides quality paid opportunities to female artists dedicated to pursuing a professional career in the arts. Running in conjunction with International Women’s Day in early March each year, and embracing Edmonton’s winter city spirit, the festival began as a four-day celebration featuring the work of 70 local artists.

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton is a feminist-based not-for-fit charitable organization that supports children, adolescents and adults who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and educates the public about sexual violence. Its vision is a world free of sexual violence and invites you to support that by attending its 2018 gala “We Believe” on May 16 featuring the founder of the #metoo campaign Tarana Burke.
